Chennai dosa

Even though we may change our food style into sandwiches and pizza… Our love for dosa will never fade..

Chennai dosa is present in adbakkam. Which provides a good place for the customers to eat along with the home delivery. It is a good middle class hotel. It has got sooo many varieties also. Once I came to know that it is a dosa joint, but the thing is that they will prepare all those dosa only after 4:00 pm, still that only regular tiffin would be available once if you check in by morning. It serves to be one of the nice and tasty veg food in reasonable rate and sufficient quantity.

And I would say a must place to visit in Adambakkam. It does not have parking facilities but you can park it near the road side. Its a small joint and can seat around 30-40 people. There is ample variety to choose from and the rates are reasonable. Try it once and you will never forget the most delicious dosa.

The chocolate room

This restaurant is present in Anna nagar esat. The place is fairly crowded. So this place have really comfortable seats with a good ambience. This cafe is a mixed bag of joy and sorrow.. You may take time to find the place but it’s worth a visit. Loved the ambience and also the service. The pricing is not very pocket friendly but cheaper than some similar cafes serving some tasteless desserts. It is a must for chocolate lovers. I have ordered chocolate lava boom which was ultimate… The best choco makeover I have ever had. The choco boom which is brownie hidden inside a chocolate shell. They provide you hot chocolate syrup and once you pour it in to the shell it breaks open into the brownie. The emiest 😋😋thing I have ever had. People in chennai are lucky as they have opportunity to have this kind of desserts….

Gangotree

For Chennaities, it is called “Authentic chat house”. A lovely hotel that sells yummy, mouthwatering and tasty chat, that just lingers in your mouth for long. Gangotree has been the primary choice when it comes to Chats. The food is excellent.

The compact but very functional chat and sweetmeats joint has been one of my favorites. Their food – whether it is the samosa or the pav bhaji or any of the sweets – has always been of top quality, while being slightly on the pricey side.

It is also famous for sweets and namkeens that just melt in your mouth. The perfect blend of flavors, which leaves an unforgettable impression .Panipuris are the best here and many customers love them. Channa samosas, kachoris, papdi chaats, Rasamalai, laddoos are yummy to taste too.

In my latest visit, I noticed some betterments – the attitude of the chat guys (changed from grumpy to smiley) and even the number of paani pooris per plate increased from 5 to 6 for the same price. It is worth the visit for a sumptuous snack.
Gangotree is a great place to have a quick bite anytime of the day. It is an authentic place to get your chats appetite filled up. You will also get quick sandwiches, kati rolls apart from regular chat items. They serve shockingly good chat with a perfect balance of flavors. It is very popular hangout place.

Momo Sa Khang

The restaurant is situated in the front courtyard of an old house. It is pretty much done like a shack, with open benches and tables and some fans to beat the heat. There is a small open counter towards the kitchen for service. However, this is one of the places where ambiance really does not matter for the amazing food they serve. Just consider yourself lucky if you manage to get there on time and find a seat, they sell out soon and there are people always waiting. It’s a small joint, very crowded, place with parking difficulties. But that doesn’t stop anyone from eating here. It’s that splendid.

The menu is very simple with limited choices of veg and non-veg in Momos & chowmein. It is good that they stick to what they are best at. The momos that they serve are amazing! I literally felt like mission accomplished when I had the first bite. So soft and succulent, the chicken stuffing inside was loaded with flavors and was perfectly cooked. The spicy chutney served was just out of the world. The spice strikes hard the first time and then it becomes addictive. It complimented the momos so well.

The chicken chowmein was equally good as well. The flavors and seasoning were perfect. It had a distinct burnt wok tossed taste. I loved this from the first bite. It has considerable quantities of veggies, scrambled eggs and chicken. Another great dish! Chicken Mokthuk was so good. Mokthuk is like noodles served in spicy broth with momos. I enjoyed slurping away the broth and chunking up on the noodles in between.

Service is extremely quick and efficient for the volume of crowds they handle. Pretty much like self-service.  All the raving about this place is totally worth it. This humble place in Besant Nagar is a hit among college students. You’ll always find it crowded; so you’ll have to be patient to see why it’s such a crowd puller. The tasty food and the value for money is why it is so popular.
Undoubtedly, the best momos in town!

Bombay Brasserie

Bombay Brasserie is one of those restaurants that are very special to me for various reasons. It has always been very consistent in the quality of food, presentation and service. It is also one of those restaurants that I personally like to keep visiting time and again. I am here again for dinner which I must tell you is simply brilliant.

They have a menu which is great in terms of variety. It is generally difficult to choose, since everything looks yummy. I really liked the Chili cheese Kulcha which are mini kulchas with a generous stuffing of cheese and green chilies. I always enjoyed Seek Kebabs and the Kashmiri Naan Kebab was another favorite. The minced mutton with Java Pepper was served with naan. They also have in their menu Naga Ghost pepper wings which is smoked chicken wings with ghost pepper world’s hottest Chili pepper. The list is endless, all of the dishes that they serve are absolutely mouth-watering.

The ambience of Bombay brasserie takes your breath away. I had always come here for dinner. The Vintage furniture with colorful cushions and neat white tables look very classy. It’s one of those places that make you feel calm instantly as you walk in.

For desserts we were served BB’s ever famous Amritsari Kulfi which is an amalgamation of some of the best Indian desserts. They have removed the drama from the way it used to be served. It used to look quite magical. I wonder why this change or maybe they ran out of liquid nitrogen that day.

A meal for two would cost you somewhere close to 1,500 INR but it’s totally worth the food, service and ambience. That’s why I always reserve this place for special occasions.Bombay Brassiere is one of those restaurants that you will want to keep frequenting and this new menu looks great in terms of variety.

Dominos Pizza

Pizza is one of the few foods that almost everyone loves. The Italian dish Pizza has widespread all over the world. Personally, when I think about pizza, the name that comes to my mind is dominos.

When I say I have a slight obsession with pizza, I mean a large addiction. Dominos is my favorite place for pizza, it’s delicious and their garlic bread pizza is to die for! Low prices and tasty pizza; my cup of tea!

The food is absolutely delicious, every item on the menu looks delicious, the meatballs and cheesy pizza is one of my favorites.

Delicious and cheap! They always have coupons, so there is something for everyone. The menu is customizable and offers a large variety. Each pizza is just greasy enough to make it delicious!! The food joint offers budget friendly food.

Dominos always has my heart because of its pizzas as well as the accompaniments that they serve. They invented this amazing food called the zingy parcel, which is absolutely delicious. The breadsticks were awesome as always. The service was quick & the staff was polite too.

To satisfy my sweet tooth I ordered Choco lava cake which is my all-time favorite and it never disappoints. Same was the case this time, it was just perfect. The cookie and brownie mix is also one among my favorites.

But I should suggest a one thing to them that they should work on their ambience and remove those boring display. I would suggest take away or home delivery. Netflix and chill with pizzas would be my ideal weekend.

THE CHOSEN MOMO

“The Tibet momos” For all veggies to indulge in the combination of fine chopped veggie juices treated with secret spices and chosen flavors of traditional tibetan masala. The place was really nice and good ambience… The simple wooden yet attractive furnitures give a warm tibetan and also Chinese ambience to the place. As like the place was the food. The momos was also quite aunthentic and tasty. Momos from the utterly unique and delicious tibetan dumplings which is also the unofficial national dish of Tibet. The prime objective of the joint has been to present the traditional taste of Tibet to people in a comfortable environment. It is present in Anna nagar. It also provides varieties in it with spiciest chutneys. One of the good restaurant in chennai for momos to fill your stomach with taste in would say…

BOLI STALL

“Venkateswara Boli stall”…. Present in Mambalam which is the “Best sweet stall” that has been talk of the town for more than a decade. They sell a variety of sweets and savouries whose taste is impeccable and the quality is just uncompromised…

They use state of the art technique in the manufacture of sweets and snacks. Renewing the sense of Indian culture, we continue to take the journey naming their uniqueness.

Boli is the traditional South Indian festive dessert made with healthy ingredients. It is specially relished during festive occasions and people of all ages are very much fond of it. The gram mixture consists of bengal gram, maida, ghee, cardamon and sugar. The flour mixed with kesari powder must be made into a soft dough to maintain the smooth consistency for boli. If you are in chennai and you want a quick grab of sweets in your tastbud this is a place you must visit.

OMBC-Old Madras Baking Company

If you like the smell of freshly baked bread and totally delish cupcakes, OMBC is the place for it! The place has a rusty old town feel, very minimalistic yet modern and they have bagels!

They also sell homemade jams, sauces, salads and coffee brews. They also have a changing menu based on what’s available – you can definitely sip a coffee and munch a freshly prepared sandwich right in their cute bakery.

The bakery is an absolute personal favorite for their freshly baked bread and amazing sandwiches. The smell of the fresh Butter and cream .The quality of their bread alone was a winner, not to mention the amalgamation of melting cheese, jalapenos and whatever else was in there!

The OMBC bagel with cream cheese has many fans. The sour and creamy cream cheese gelled well with the bagel. It was warm and freshly baked with hard crust and soft bread inside. The cream cheese was applied generously. The bagels were delicious.

It’s a cozy little shop with well-lit jazz music. Good variety of breads but unfortunately not many options for breakfast. The filter coffee is overpriced. Their service was quick and prompt. The ambience is good and the staff is cooperative too. It is a great spot to hang out but a bit overpriced mainly due to the “FRESHNESS” tag.

Coal Barbecues-T.Nagar

Some places leave a lasting impression in our minds, and Coal Barbecues in T.Nagar has definitely been one such place for me. This was my first visit here and we walked out completely satisfied.
On the occasion of our batch party, my classmates, and I reserved a table for 35 Pax for the 6 PM slot, a few days in advance. We had no issues with the reservation, in fact, received a follow-up call just a little before 6PM and we landed there in about ten minutes. A table in one of the corners was reserved for us, comfortable and welcoming.

We literally filled the restaurant and made a hell lot of noise. Took a lot of photos and videos, teased each other and finally were ready to eat!!

They offered us complementary mojitos to start, and one after another the starters were served on the table. There were a few vegetarians in the group, and they had clear color code on the plate so as to not mix-up and they were seated in a separate table as well.

Crispy Potatoes, Barbecue Chicken Wings, Chicken Legs, Veg Cutlet, Peanut Cutlet, Crispy Fried Corn, Mutton Kebab were served separately on the plate, in addition to the regular skewers on the table grill.

Amongst the skewers, Mushroom, Paneer and Watermelon Balls were vegetarian, and non-vegetarians had two varieties of prawns and chicken, and fish.
In addition to these, we were served some Chef’s specials – fish were crispy and everyone seemed to love it, Chicken was tasty, and Mutton was so tender and soft, also a hit with the gang. Baby corn fingers were yummy!

Have to mention that service was extremely courteous throughout, checking every now and then if we wanted more of anything or if anything had to be customized to suit our palette.
After an elaborate session of eating starters, we decided to stop with that and move on. Everyone were quite full after the starters. Some of them wanted to try the main course, while the others directly moved on to desert.

The dessert counter was elaborate – Cakes, brownies, custard, mousse, and many more.
Live ice cream counters were in full action, one making a mix-and-match on cold stone while the other making rolls. This attracted many of us. We had silly competitions and bets as to who finishes the ice-creams first. We behaved very childishly and did all sorts of mischievous pranks on one another.

Nitrogen biscuits were eye-catchy, all of us tried it!We enjoyed it and took many videos of eating them. The way the smoke came from our mouths on eating the biscuits was fascinating. Though we were all full, we didn’t want to miss the nitrogen biscuits.

Finally the special moment – The Birthday cake was brought on the table, but the best part was that it wasn’t anyone’s birthday. We just wanted to prank each other. In the end, I was the one who cut the cake. It was all dramatic with my friends singing and taking videos as if it was my real birthday, followed by the Coal Team singing the birthday song. This day couldn’t have been any better. We did notice that there were others celebrating their birthdays here, at different times of course. Obviously people seemed to have a wonderful party time!

We paid about 30K in all, and I would say it’s absolutely worth it! The variety in their spread, the taste, the service, I was happy with everything that we tasted.

The restaurant must be appreciated for the patience and for tolerating all our nonsense.
Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience! Our batch party was the best and so was my fake birthday!!
