Coal Barbecues-T.Nagar

Some places leave a lasting impression in our minds, and Coal Barbecues in T.Nagar has definitely been one such place for me. This was my first visit here and we walked out completely satisfied.
On the occasion of our batch party, my classmates, and I reserved a table for 35 Pax for the 6 PM slot, a few days in advance. We had no issues with the reservation, in fact, received a follow-up call just a little before 6PM and we landed there in about ten minutes. A table in one of the corners was reserved for us, comfortable and welcoming.

We literally filled the restaurant and made a hell lot of noise. Took a lot of photos and videos, teased each other and finally were ready to eat!!

They offered us complementary mojitos to start, and one after another the starters were served on the table. There were a few vegetarians in the group, and they had clear color code on the plate so as to not mix-up and they were seated in a separate table as well.

Crispy Potatoes, Barbecue Chicken Wings, Chicken Legs, Veg Cutlet, Peanut Cutlet, Crispy Fried Corn, Mutton Kebab were served separately on the plate, in addition to the regular skewers on the table grill.

Amongst the skewers, Mushroom, Paneer and Watermelon Balls were vegetarian, and non-vegetarians had two varieties of prawns and chicken, and fish.
In addition to these, we were served some Chef’s specials – fish were crispy and everyone seemed to love it, Chicken was tasty, and Mutton was so tender and soft, also a hit with the gang. Baby corn fingers were yummy!

Have to mention that service was extremely courteous throughout, checking every now and then if we wanted more of anything or if anything had to be customized to suit our palette.
After an elaborate session of eating starters, we decided to stop with that and move on. Everyone were quite full after the starters. Some of them wanted to try the main course, while the others directly moved on to desert.

The dessert counter was elaborate – Cakes, brownies, custard, mousse, and many more.
Live ice cream counters were in full action, one making a mix-and-match on cold stone while the other making rolls. This attracted many of us. We had silly competitions and bets as to who finishes the ice-creams first. We behaved very childishly and did all sorts of mischievous pranks on one another.

Nitrogen biscuits were eye-catchy, all of us tried it!We enjoyed it and took many videos of eating them. The way the smoke came from our mouths on eating the biscuits was fascinating. Though we were all full, we didn’t want to miss the nitrogen biscuits.

Finally the special moment – The Birthday cake was brought on the table, but the best part was that it wasn’t anyone’s birthday. We just wanted to prank each other. In the end, I was the one who cut the cake. It was all dramatic with my friends singing and taking videos as if it was my real birthday, followed by the Coal Team singing the birthday song. This day couldn’t have been any better. We did notice that there were others celebrating their birthdays here, at different times of course. Obviously people seemed to have a wonderful party time!

We paid about 30K in all, and I would say it’s absolutely worth it! The variety in their spread, the taste, the service, I was happy with everything that we tasted.

The restaurant must be appreciated for the patience and for tolerating all our nonsense.
Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience! Our batch party was the best and so was my fake birthday!!
